Kellogg Police Department Roll Call: Oct. 28 - Nov. 4

by SGT. PAUL TWIDT/Kellogg Police Department
| November 5, 2020 12:16 PM

• Report of a man with a gun in the street on E Idaho. Once officers arrived, they quickly noticed that it was not a gun, but oddly enough a thermometer. You know, the kind that you point at your forehead or whatever else and pull the trigger to get the temp? Not the old school type that you place under your tongue, under your arm pit, or up your… When asked why he had the thermometer, he simply stated "COVID." Fair enough, I guess. Cleared, NAT.

• Assisted county with an unknown injury crash in Main Street, Wardner. Vehicle crashed into power pole. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Called to the Amy Lynn’s for a welfare check. After some digging, the female was code 4.

• Civil stand-by requested 300 block W. Brown. After speaking with all parties, no stand-by was needed (items would be left out of the residence for collection and notification would be made when the items were available).

• Verbal domestic on the 300 Block of E. Idaho. Cleared, parties were separated on arrival.

• Dispatched to a possible verbal domestic on the 300 block of E. Idaho Ave. Upon arrival, parties were separated and K77 was unable to locate the second party due to them leaving the area in a vehicle. Gave a verbal warning to the party who remained on scene for yelling in the middle of the street, which disturbed neighboring residents.

• Contacted an individual at the Kellogg Police Department for a public assist. Individual found an injured dog and needed help getting in contact with a vet. Pet Rescue helped out with making contact with a clinic and they took possession of the dog.

• Attempted to handle a landline request regarding property held for safe keeping. Was unable to make contact with said individual via landline after multiple attempts.

• Kellogg Police Department and the county gave the volleyball team that is heading to state a proper send off this morning.

• Traffic stop in the alley way on the 200 block of Riverside and W. Cameron. Cleared, verbal.

• Stationary patrol on S. Division, Hill Street, W. Cameron Avenue and Bunker Avenue.

• Lots, and I mean lots, of mobile patrols in Kellogg.

• Attempt to locate vehicle with excessive smoke billowing from the vehicle on I-90 at MP50. After the call was aired, county located the vehicle in Smelterville (vehicle was no longer in Kellogg).

• Dispatched to the 400 block of W. Brown Avenue for an unwanted individual. Upon arrival, K79 discovered an argument had taken place between two parties, which was the reason for the call. I was able to convince parties to separate to avoid further conflict.

• Responded to the 400 block of W. Brown Avenue for a fireworks complaint. K76 later discovered the fireworks were actually taking place near the 500 block of W. Mullan Avenue. K76 checked the area but was unable to locate the source.

• Big week this week… you know… the new season of Apex comes out. Oh yeah and some voting thing. Just kidding. Hope all of you got out and voted. As much as one side dislikes the other and vice versa, it is important that we have both. This keeps both in check.

• Assisted county with unwanted subject from above, but was canceled while before arriving on scene.

• Assisted county with a domestic/kidnapping in progress that had happened in Wallace. Vehicle went to a house in Osburn where the subjects were taken into custody. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Landline request regarding runaway (juvenile), both juvenile and parent/RP were in Washington at the time of call. Advised to contact once back in Kellogg to sign as runaway. Also gave information to further assistance in location while still in Washington to avoid multiple trips.

• Interview/report taken at the Kellogg Police Department for runaway mother from the prior calls. She came to the PD and information was taken and completed. Juvenile signed runaway and entered NCIC. Report completed and faxed to SCSO. Spokane City Police notified of possible locations, as well as entrance into NCIC as runaway.

• Assisted county with taking a dog to the pound, a female golden retriever mix with a bandana around its neck found in Kingston. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Words from the Chief, ”There will be a mandatory patrol meeting on Tuesday.” Thanks K76!

• Meeting at District 2 Fire regarding training. Separate email was sent out regarding the cancellation of class this week.

• Landline regarding crash that took place in Yoke's parking lot last month, referred to investigating officer.

• Traffic stop W. Cameron 100 block, verbal for distracted driving (cell phone).

• Traffic stop Cameron Conoco parking lot, verbal for distracted driving (cell phone), DWP (infraction), and stop sign violation. Driver taken into custody on warrant out of Boundary County. Report taken and arrest made without incident.

• Reports.

• Attempted civil paper service 100 block E. Mullan, no answer.

• Parking issue in the alley behind 300 block W. Riverside, was able to contact responsible and have vehicle moved rather than tagging/towing and issuing parking ticket.

• Suspicious circumstances on Hill Street. Someone/something in a yard during the night. NAT.

• Landline request regarding possible harassment/stalking. After gathering information, steps were given to eliminate further contact and document future contacts to see if it meets criteria for Stalking. At the moment contact is consensual (as both sides like to have their say) and does not meet criteria.

• Assisted county with a crash at mile post 53. Divert traffic at milepost 51. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Assist K79 with traffic control on I-90.

• Medical call on Riverside Avenue.

• Accident on Cameron Avenue. Report taken.

• Traffic complaint 800 block W. Cameron Avenue. Dirt bikes using the parking lot of LendNation to gain access to the mountainside. One can clearly see a trail from the back of the parking lot up the hillside. Extra patrols requested. Only description given is that one may have had a white helmet and the other might have been blue (unknown further). Unable to locate any dirt bikes. Pinehurst had a similar complaint later in the day and I requested they be asked if they had been in Kellogg today (no they had not).

• Motorist assist with broke down vehicle blocking roadway Division directly underneath I-90. Operators contacted Nickerson's for tow. Traffic control for Nickerson's, public assist (motor home transmission issue and vehicle would not move).

• Assist Health and Welfare with visit to 200 block of W. Cameron. No answer at the door, nothing for law enforcement to follow-up with.

• Contacted a subject in the parking lot of the Kellogg Police Department. Wanted to report incidents taking place at their residence. Cleared, unfounded.

• Assisted county with an attempt to locate a vehicle coming from Elizabeth Park to Alhambra Road. Checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.

Be happy, be safe, no matter who wins — it will be OK.
