The free press

| November 16, 2020 10:13 AM

A friend says that he "unfriends" any negative people; that he can't stand negative. Ironic that his comments about the election and about the media are about as negative as fleas on a dog. So I'm going to be "positive." I'm positive the free press is not the "enemy of the people." Ironic that a president of the most free country in the world would say that it was.

The "Free Press" is the most crucially important item in our Constitution that makes us different from Russia, China, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, most Latin American countries, and other dictatorial autocracies in the world, which we (even Republicans) criticize for their lack of freedoms. Any person with a sixth-grade education should be able to acknowledge the free press as being not the "enemy of the people," but a critical part of our freedom.

NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, the Spokesman-Review, Coeur d'Alene Press, even Fox News, all are a part of the "Free Press." Before being negative about all of these media, folks should partake of all or at least some of them, not just one. It is pretty unrealistic to think all of the many news vehicles are "fake news" and only one is "fair and balanced."
