Jay D. Bell, 94

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Jay D. Bell, 94, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away Sept. 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 22, 1925, in The Dalles, Ore. Jay was the son of Jay and Jennie (Keller) Bell.

Jay left high school early to join and serve in the United States Navy. After returning home, Jay tended bar before he attended trade school for plumbing. Jay owned and operated Bell Plumbing in Osburn for 65-plus years.

On July 12, 1952, Jay was united in marriage to his best friend, Alma Flatt. Together, they raised two children.

Jay was a well-known and loved man of the Silver Valley. He was also a member of the Osburn VFW and the Wallace Elks.

Jay had a passion for many things. When he wasn’t working, he could be found fishing, camping, shooting pool, traveling and going dancing with Alma. He also was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old westerns.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Alma Bell; three grandchildren, Bryce Grebil, Brianne Grebil and her husband, Brian Marquis, and Aliza and Grant Seay; four great-grandchildren, Carson Seay, Garth Seay, Andy Norfolk and Daniel Norfolk; son-in-law Mike Grebil and daughter-in-law Carol Bell. Jay is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded by his parents; his siblings; and his children, Doug Bell and Jaylene Grebil.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at the Wallace Elks. This will be a potluck and all are welcome.
