Fishhook Creek Bridge repairs will temporarily close Forest Road 301
ST. MARIES – The St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests plans to temporarily close a section of Forest Service Road 301 south of Avery, Idaho, on October 6 and 7 to make needed upgrades to the Fishhook Creek Bridge. Motorists are advised to make alternate travel arrangements on those days because the road will be impassable during scheduled work.
Forest Service Road 301 will be closed between its terminus at the St. Joe River and the junction with Forest Service Road 753 (Lick Creek), approximately five miles to the south. The bridge is located at mile marker 3.
During the two-day closure, workers will replace the bridge planking to improve safety and load-carrying capacity. The Fishhook Creek Bridge is used frequently by commercial timber hauling trucks and the recreating public.
"We selected these dates because they fall in between bow and rifle season for big game, and we want to minimize the impact to visitors,” said St. Joe District Ranger Matt Davis. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we make these needed upgrades to the bridge.”
