Smelterville man involved in US-95 crash
ATHOL — A Smelterville man was Life Flighted from the scene of a crash this last weekend after flipping his vehicle near Athol.
Idaho State Police reports that on April 3 around 11:30 p.m., Christopher J. Nusz, 50, was driving a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup truck southbound on US 95 near milepost 451 when the vehicle crossed over both lanes of traffic.
The truck proceeded to cross the center median, then over both northbound lanes, then run off the shoulder. Nusz and the truck were momentarily airborne before finally coming to rest in the middle of N. Williams Lane in Kootenai County.
Nusz was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication by medical personnel. Life Flight Network was launched and the driver was transported to Kootenai Health. Nusz was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
