Question to legislators
I recently wrote to the four Idaho congressmen regarding the belief of some republicans and Donald Trump that the 2020 election was stolen. Thanks to Mike Simpson and Russ Fulcher for their responses though I didn't think that they answered my question regarding the validity of these election beliefs.
Now I have another question: Did they watch any of the initial hearing on the Jan. 6th insurrection at the Capitol Building? Did they, as a member of the "law and order" Republican Party, give any of their time to watching and listening to these four police officers who testified about their experiences that day? These officers, who risked their lives to protect you and other members of Congress should have been required viewing for all of our elected officials. And yet I heard Mitch McConnell say he didn't watch it and Kevin McCarthy denigrate the hearings and the two Republicans honorable enough to serve on the committee.
Fox News did air the hearings but later some of their news analysts demeaned and laughed at the very officers who served our country's democracy on Jan. 6th. Tucker Carlson made fun of Officer Fanone's account of his treatment that day and Laura I. accused all four of putting on a "performance to aid Nancy Pelosi". My question to you is, do you support these police officers or the views of Fox News? I understand the pressure being put on Republican office holders to follow the party line but I believe those who refuse to follow along will be the true winners in the long run. You will be known for your "Profiles in Courage" in your defense of democracy.
