Texas man killed in semi crash
ROSE LAKE – A semi-truck driver was killed over the weekend following an incident on 4th of July Pass.
Idaho State Police reports that on July 31 at approximately 11 a.m., John G. Bunn, 58, of Midlothian, Texas was driving a 2021 Freightliner semi-truck on eastbound Interstate 90 when he failed to negotiate a left-hand turn near milepost 30.
As a result, Bunn overcorrected the vehicle and it overturned. Medical crews with Shoshone County Fire District No. 2 responded to the incident and discovered upon arrival that the driver had succumbed to his injuries. Bunn was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
SCFD No. 2 firefighter/EMT Nick Waites stressed following the incident that motorists should always wear their seatbelt while operating a vehicle and should watch their speed when taking tight turns like those found on the mountain pass.
ISP states that the investigation is ongoing and next of kin has been notified.
