David Nels Swan, 73

David Nels Swan was born on Aug. 6, 1947, in Kellogg, Idaho, to his father, Nels Hjalmer Swan and mother Kathleen Alice (Carter) Swan. David went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 1, 2021. David passed peacefully away at his home in Athol, Idaho, under the watchful care of his caretakers Kirsten and Julio Diaz.

David grew up in Pinehurst, Idaho, and graduated from Kellogg High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged following completion of his service.

David worked at the Pine Creek Saw Mill as a young man until he was disabled. He retired in 1988 and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to be closer to his sister, Anna Rolphe.

David was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Seattle Seahawks, as well as watching numerous game shows like "Jeopardy," "Wheel of Fortune" and "Deal or No Deal."

David was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, Dwight Swan; and is survived by his sister, Anna Rolphe, Coeur d’Alene; his nephew, Jeff Frey, Coeur d’Alene; and his niece, Lori Frey-Butler, Seattle.
