Kellogg Police Department Roll Call: Aug. 4-11

by Sgt. Paul Twidt
| August 12, 2021 12:10 PM

• K73 and K78 assisted Fire with a wildland fire up Galena Ridge. Yeah…K73/K78 pretty much saved the world by putting out the small fire right next to the really big fire. Great job by the hose draggers — they knocked it out fast. It could have been really bad. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Disturbance call, responded to 100 block E. Portland. Wasn't a disturbance, someone parked in a handicap spot and got yelled at. Cleared, NAT.

• Called to the area of the City Park for a male in dark clothing, covering his face with his hood and walking around behind Hill Street Depot and the park. Juvenile male was contacted and his guardian didn't know he was out and about. Male was taken back to his hotel and released to the custody of his guardian.

• Called to the fire camp at the middle school for a female causing issues, female was trespassed.

• Called back to the fire camp as the “fireman groupie” had returned.

• Called to an unwanted subject at the Silver Inn. It turned out to be the fireman groupie (some fire fighters are staying at the Silver Inn) causing problems and banging on doors, she was trespassed from there as well.

• A short time later called back to the Silver Inn as the fireman groupie had returned, this time she failed to comply with commands and refused to leave, female was taken into custody for delaying peace officer. Cleared, arrest.

• Animal complaint at 10 block W. Mullan, complaint of animal feces not being cleaned up. Pink door knocker warning left on door as there was no answer.

• Located an alarm going on W. Mullan, made contact with resident and they disabled the alarm. They have an electric dog fence and the wire is broken. This was causing an alarm at the base station.

• Assist K75 with suspicious circumstances 200 block Flume. Person passed out in a vehicle and not responding (alive).

• Fire call to E. Portland near Maple. A telephone wire caught fire somehow, K77 and K79 conducted traffic control. Cleared, other agency assist.

• Citizen contact at Kellogg City Park for individuals after hours. Cleared, verbal.

• Dispatched to possible prowler 700 block Howard. Cleared, UTL.

• Responded to the 100 block of W. Mullan Avenue for a domestic battery. Parties were separated, peace was restored and misdemeanor citation was issued.

• Assist with locating owner of vehicle needing to be moved for slurry seal of Main Street. Eventually contacted owner of vehicle and it was moved before tow was called.

• Possible Runaway call at 500 block of Mullan. Contacted RP, RP didn't want to sign juveniles as a runaway yet, searched all of Kellogg for person of interest. Unable to locate person, working closely with RP to locate individual.

• Trespassing call, person reported seven males climbing a hill near Wildcat Way, ended up being wildland fire fighters. Cleared NAT.

• Suspicious vehicle at Oak and Station. Cleared, Code 4. On a side note, if you fire someone, don’t let them park the company vehicles while no one is around. Two asphalt trucks were left on Station Avenue in the gravel lot with their doors open and windows rolled down with all the tools and equipment out in the open. K77 managed to contact responsible party. He showed up and confirmed nothing was stolen and to lock the vehicle.

• Dispatched to a loud boom in the Second and Silver area, possible transformer damage. Cleared, found some houses without power but was UTL any fallen power lines or obviously damaged transformers. Avista was notified of the power outage and the pole number of the possible issue.

• Citizen contact regarding strange comments being said to employees. Cleared, public assist.

• Tagged a vehicle in the 400 block of Price for 48-hour removal. Contact was made with owner notifying them of the intent to remove after 48 hours.

• Called to the middle school about a male who keeps showing up to the camp area. K73 and K73 located “Beer Virus 2020 man” and he was trespassed.

• K76 had multiple contacts with Beer Virus man all night long, over and over, but no arrestable offenses. After being told he was trespassed, he did not return to those locations. He is trespassed from McDonald's, the high school and the middle school property where the firefighters are. He was getting agitated more and more with each contact. He has a shirt that says "beer virus 2020" and wearing blue jeans.

• Attempt to locate at I-90 near milepost 49. Report of a bus that blew a tire and was riding on the rim causing sparks. I located a bus at Les Schwab that was getting repaired. Believed to be the same vehicle and there was still rubber on the rim.

• Unwanted subject at Gondolier. Business no longer welcomed said individual. Turned out to be Beer Virus man. K74 trespassed him from Beamis properties in Kellogg and since he has been trespassed from nearly everywhere else in Kellogg, was given a courtesy transport to Walmart.

• Welfare check at the Silver Inn. The hose draggers had to break the door down as the person that was inside was not responding and the dead bolt was locked. It turns out, the guy was just on the nod and not dying. Mr. Heavy sleeper was then trespassed as the management did not enjoy the door being damaged just to find out the person was just on the “nod” (to doze off when high on opiates.)

Be happy, be safe, don’t be a groupie.
