Almost worth it
I think the Trumpers' siege was almost worth it to me, just to get to hear the oratorical skills of so many of our legislators.
Republicans and Democrats both, gave the best speeches following the outrage going into the forestalled historic ceremony for affirming the presidency I have ever witnessed.
I've heard, over some 80 years, speeches by Churchill, two Roosevelts, Obama, Ghandi, Frank Church, Dworshak, politicians with excellent speaking skills, and find it heartwarming to know the hearts of many of our legislators, so much criticized so often. A politician's speech can be with forked tongue, as with anyone, but it can also reveal the person's heart.
Mike Bennett of Colorado; Cory Booker, New Jersey; Tim Kaine, Virginia; and many more from both parties gave the most inspiring words in the wake of the Trump supporters' outrageous support of presidential autocracy. This gives me renewed respect and hope for the Congress of these United States, in spite of Party differences.
Special respect for Mitch Romney for his stand on truth.
