Folks who enjoy festive, patriotic parades are in quite a bit of luck this coming Fourth of July weekend because there are going to be a lot of them.
With communities beginning to fully emerge from COVID-19 restrictions, the plans for a full Independence Day celebration didn’t materialize this year, but there are still plenty of things to do if you can get out and around.
“The events in the park after the parade we hope to bring back in the future,” Silver Mountain general manager and Silver Valley Chamber member Jeff Colburn said. “With COVID concerns and most of our local businesses facing staffing challenges it was not possible to put this portion together this year.”
Kicking off the weekend will be Wallace’s annual Statehood Day Parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 3.
Anyone who would like to participate should make their way to the Wallace Elks by 5:30 p.m. and the parade historically will take multiple laps around Bank and Cedar streets.
In Kellogg, the Fourth of July festivities will begin with the Silver Valley Chamber’s Fourth of July Parade.
Entrants will meet at the lot on the corner of Market Avenue and South Main Street to be lined up with the parade beginning at noon Sunday.
The parade will follow Main Street to McKinley Avenue and finish down on Railroad Avenue.
“Please join us in celebrating our patriotism and supporting the businesses of Uptown Kellogg,” Silver Valley Chamber president Tara Lodi said.
Calder and Avery will also be hosting parades on Sunday in the southern portion of Shoshone County, with Calder’s beginning at 10 a.m. followed by Avery's at 2 p.m.
Silver Mountain’s firework show will be the main event of the day and will kick off just before 10 p.m.
