KELLOGG – The Kellogg Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying an individual who is suspected of damaging multiple vehicles at Dave Smith Motors last week.

KPD Sgt. Paul Twidt tells the News-Press that the suspect arrived at the Dave Smith Sunnyside parking lot, between Riverside Avenue and West Cameron Avenue, on June 23 at 5:23 a.m. and left at 6:30 a.m.

While on scene, lot cameras recorded him puncturing the fuel tanks and/or oil filters of seven different vehicles – all seemingly chosen at random – with a knife-type tool.

The suspect is described as a white male with possible reddish hair and a reddish beard. He was also wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with the number 14 on the back in white letters.

To arrive and leave the scene, the suspect utilized a Silver Pontiac G6 with a sunroof.

Twidt explains that while the suspect's motivation is unknown at this time, the incident certainly wasn't random.

"They (Dave Smith) were definitely targeted," he said. "It wasn't to steal anything, it was definitely to cause damage."

Nothing was reportedly taken from any of the vehicles; not even the fuel that poured out onto the parking lot.

Twidt asks that if anyone has any information regarding the incident to contact the Kellogg Police Department at 208-784-1131.
