MEDIMONT — Detectives with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the possible drowning of a missing Kellogg man.

According to KCSO, Kevin Walker, 45, was on his boat with his wife, Angie, on the Coeur d’Alene River near Killarney Lake on Saturday afternoon just before 4 p.m. when a sequence of events occurred that led to Walker vanishing beneath the water.

It was reported that Walker and his wife had gotten into a domestic dispute over Walker driving the boat too fast – which resulted in her taking the keys and throwing them into the river.

The keys were reportedly attached to a float and both Walker and his wife attempted to retrieve the keys but neither were successful.

It was reported that during their final attempt to locate them, Walker, who wasn’t wearing a life jacket reportedly began to struggle and call for help which prompted his wife to attempt to throw him a life jacket from the shore before he disappeared beneath the water.

Walker’s wife flagged down another boat who assisted in continuing the search while also alerting a nearby boat check station where they were able to get a call out for help.

Deputies and members of the Dive Rescue team from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene shortly after, but were unable to locate anything in the murky waters that the particular area is known for.

KCSO deputies with the Side Scan Sonar Team also attempted to use sonar to locate Walker.

According to the KCSO, the case is being handled as a missing person and Marine Deputies will be out patrolling the CDA River throughout the day, searching for the male and contacting any witnesses that may have seen the incident.

Shoshone County Fire District No. 2, Harrison Quick Response Unit, and the East Side Fire District all assisted the KCSO in the initial rescue efforts.
