Ride the Wall
For 24 years, the Snakepit in Enaville hosted a Summer Solstice bike ride up a logging road along the Coeur d'Alene River followed by a sumptuous outdoor barbecue at the Snakepit at Enaville. The ride is back this June 21, after a couple years off due to the death of beloved former Snakepit owner Joe Peak, and then COVID-19.
The ride has always been, and still is, a fundraiser for the Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing in the Silver Valley. The wonderfully scenic riverside ride starts at 6 p.m. at the Enaville trailhead of the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes in Enaville and usually everyone is down to the barbecue by 7:30 p.m., well before dark on the longest day of the year.
One can opt to mountain bike the "Wall" with its amazing river views or road bike along the trail of the Coeur d'Alenes from Enaville to Cataldo and back, thus suitable for families and fit novices. Registration is from 4-6 p.m. at the Snakepit on June 21, or save money by registering early online at www.svfch.org.

This year the event is inviting walking folks, with or without walkers, and those in wheelchairs. They will leave the Enaville Trailhead after the bikers, go down the paved Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes as far as they wish, and return for the barbecue at the Snake Pit. Registration is the same as for the bikers and will include a shirt.
