Marie Visintainer, 90

Marie Antoinette (Malutta) Visintainer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, 90, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away Friday, June 6, 2021, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho. Marie was born on Jan. 18, 1931, in Wallace, Idaho, a daughter of the late Max Malutta and Gilda Riccaro Malutta.

After living in Burke, Idaho, for seven years, the family moved to Wallace where Marie graduated from Wallace High School in 1949. After graduation, Marie went on to work for the Coeur d’Alene Hardware Company for three years and then went to work at the Shoshone County Clerk’s Office for two years. On Aug. 14, 1954, she married Leonard J. “Vince” Visintainer. The couple lived in Wallace and later moved to Silverton. Leonard passed away April 7, 2015.

Marie worked at the Shoshone County Courthouse for 25 years as a clerk and secretary to the magistrate judge. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the St. Alphonsus Altar Society. Marie enjoyed to cook and bake cookies, gardening and was a voracious reader.

In addition to her parents, and husband Leonard “Vince,” Marie is preceded in death by a son, Steve Visintainer, and a sister, Joan Malutta Herbig.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Dave) Parrella of Kennewick, Wash., Judy (Rusty) Sheppard, of Wallace and Terri Visintainer of Wallace; one brother, Max (Dorothy) Malutta of Aptos, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace, with Fr. Jerome Montez serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery in Osburn, Idaho. A reception will follow the committal service at the Wallace Elks Club. Friends and family may gather for viewing from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Shoshone Funeral Services in Kellogg.
