HAYDEN — The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, partnered with the Kootenai County Fire Chiefs Association, Idaho Department of Lands, and Office of Emergency Management are hosting a Community Preparedness meeting on July 8 at the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management from 6-8 p.m.

As we are all aware of, temperatures have been unseasonably hot, we are experiencing drought like conditions, and have many more visitors than usual. All of these factors have increased the volume and nature of fires in our community. Due to these factors, we would like to invite the citizens of Kootenai County to participate in this event.

This event will be an information sharing forum for the public. We will be discussing a multitude of topics including: Updates on the current fire conditions, explain the concerns facing responders, give tips and resources to protect your property, and help you formulate a plan in the case of a major event in your neighborhood.

We will provide tips on how to prepare you and your families in the event of an emergency, as well as give you information on how to help us when responding. The best way to protect your families and property is to have a well thought out plan and notify first responders at the first sign of a problem.

Thank you for your participation and diligence as we face these unparalleled times and for helping us keep this community safe.

The Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management is located at 1662 W. Wyoming Ave. in Hayden.
