Man hospitalized after cougar attack

AVERY — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call on Thursday reporting that a 21-year-old male was injured while hunting above Avery on Moon Pass Road.
The caller stated that the victim sustained his injuries while hunting a cougar and was attacked by it. The victim was transported to Benewah Community Hospital and was being treated for non life-threatening injuries.
This incident is being investigated by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office. There is no threat to the public, as the animal was harvested by the hunters.
