BONNERS FERRY — The Intermountain League-leading Badgers climbed out of a 7-2 hole with eight runs in the fifth inning of the opener, and went on to sweep the visiting Wildcats.

Teigan Banning drove in four runs in the opener for Bonners Ferry (11-6, 8-0 IML), including a two-run double that tied the game at 7. He also singled in two runs in the first inning.

Logan Jerome went 3 for 5 for Kellogg (2-6 IML), and Brody Hoffman was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.

“We were in a deep hole,” Bonners Ferry coach Tom Turpin said. “We weren’t playing well, but we finally strung some hits out.”

In the second game, David Hammons went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Badgers.

Blake Rice was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs, and Bo Bateman knocked home three runs and scored three times.

Kellogg’s boys won with a 335 and Bonners Ferry’s girls won with a 407 in the match, moved from Twin Lakes Village Golf Course to The Links due to course conditions.

Timberlake boys, Bonners girls take team titles at Timberlake

SPIRIT LAKE — Timberlake senior Ian Gardom won in the long jump and triple jump to help the Tigers edge the Badgers for the team title at the Timberlake Invitational. Timberlake beat Bonners Ferry 185.5-181.5 for the boys team title.

Bonners Ferry’s girls won the girls team title with 220 points. Timberlake senior Jeana Craven won in the 100- and 200-meter dash and ran the winning leg on the school’s 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams.

Timberlake senior Blayre Jeffs won the shot put and discus.
