Dennis Alvin Sager, 91

Dennis Alvin Sager, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of DeSmet, Idaho, and formerly of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021. Dennis was born on Aug. 12, 1929, in Gordon, Neb., a son of the late Freeman Sager and Jessie Harris Sager.

On Dec. 29, 1950, Dennis married Rosaline “Rose” Bos in Deadwood, S.D. Later in 1963, Dennis and Rose moved to the Silver Valley from Mabton, Wash. Dennis worked as a diamond core driller for the Sunshine Mine and various other mines for 23 years. He retired in 1986.

Dennis enjoyed fishing, working on the milling machine in his shop, and farming.

In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his wife, Rose, who passed away April 13, 2013. Three brothers, Howard, Gene and Melvin. Also, by his daughter, Peggy (James) Stone of Hayden, Idaho; and granddaughter Ashley (daughter to Dennis Hank) Sager.

He is survived by five children, Karen (Duane) Marquardt of DeSmet, Dennis H. (Sherry) Sager of Walla Walla, Wash., Terry Erickson of Spokane, Wash., Lesley Sager of Battle Mountain, Nev., and Rick (Maria) Sager of Ione, Wash. Dennis is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At Dennis’ request, cremation will take place and private family services will be held in the summer.
