Kenneth “Spike” Elwood passed away April 19, 2021, in Cabin City, Mont., at the age of 69. Spike was born on March 4, 1952, in Wallace, Idaho, to Kenneth “Buck” and Delline Elwood of Mullan, Idaho.

He grew up in Mullan and attended the Mullan schools. He played football and basketball all four years and graduated in 1970. He was selected for the Dennis Maier Boys All-State Team in 1969-70.

He was a firefighter and EMT for the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.

Spike married Cyndi Elwood on May 15, 1976, in Osburn, Idaho. Spike loved being “over the hill” at his property in Cabin City surrounded by his friends and family, especially his grandchildren who he loved very much. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Delline Elwood; and his sister, Susie Smith.

Spike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cynthia Elwood of Mullan; a daughter, Kristina Larson (Barry) of Wallace; a daughter, Katie Van Hoose of Wallace; a son, Andy Elwood of Mullan; an aunt, RaNae Case (John) of Post Falls, Idaho; a cousin, Trish Case of Post Falls; a nephew, Nick Smith (Denise) of Mullan; and five grandchildren, Emma Van Hoose, Andrew Van Hoose, Peyton Elwood, Henry Larson and Oliver Larson.

A gathering to remember Spike will be held this summer at his “happy place” in Cabin City.
