Dawn Elayne Doney McNinch, 71

| November 1, 2021 9:35 AM

Dawn Elayne Doney McNinch passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after an extensive illness she had for years. She was born to Donald and Irma Doney on Nov. 30, 1949, in Osburn, Idaho. She attended school in Osburn and graduated in 1968.

One highlight she had in her youth were the years of dance classes from Betty Damiano in Osburn.

One of her wishes was to become a nurse which she started training for after graduation from Wallace High School. As often happens, the nursing didn’t work out and she met a man.

Dawn had a ceramic store in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for a time, which she enjoyed. When they moved to Alaska, she worked for a contractor in his office until he passed away, after which they moved back to Idaho.

After a short while, they were off to Texas where her husband drove long-haul trucks and Dawn worked with a church. They were there for several years until her health kept declining, especially with the heat. After that, a bad meal in a cafe during her husband’s travels resulted in food poisoning and the end of his career driving long-haul trucks. So they moved back to Idaho for both of them to improve their health. Her husband’s improved, but hers kept declining further and further.

Dawn leaves behind her husband, Rick; three sons; four grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Doney and her mother, Irma Doney.

There will be no funeral.
