Clerk: Mask up and don't forget to vote!
The COVID-19 pandemic will once again be affecting the voting process today as masks will be required for in-person voting at all polls across the Silver Valley.
Shoshone County Clerk Tamie Lewis-Eberhard explains that the county elections staff will be adjusting their processes to ensure everyone can safely cast their votes in today's Nov. 2 election and limit the exposure of the virus to both citizens and poll workers.
"Shoshone County continues to see many COVID cases, therefore, as in the past three elections, we will require masks and social distancing at all polling locations," she said. "Please bring your own mask and practice social distancing both inside and outside the buildings. There will be plexiglass screens in place and the poll workers will perform regular sanitization throughout the day."
Shoshone County will be opening four polling locations, as there are only four city elections with contested races. The following polling locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for in-person voting:
• The city of Wallace election will be held at the Congregational Church at 408 Cedar St. in Wallace. On the ballot for Mayor is Lynn Mogensen and Heather Branstetter. For City Council Member Position #6, four-year term, are Dean Cooper and Owen Webster Cotter. Vote for one in each race.
• The city of Kellogg election will be held at the Kellogg Elks Lodge No. 1841, 202 McKinley Ave. in Kellogg. On the ballot for City Council Member Position #2 seat, a four-year term, are Monica Miller and Robin Ray.
•The city of Osburn election will be held at the VFW Hall, Fourth & Mullan in Osburn. On the ballot for two, four-year term, City Council positions are Spike Angle, Kevin Kessler, Brian Kolczak and John Specht. Voters are asked to cast their vote for two candidates.
•The city of Mullan election will be held at the Mullan City Hall, 112 Earle Ave. in Mullan. On the ballot for two, four-year term, City Council positions are Anali Spooner, Kjell Truesdell and Joe Wolford. Voters are asked to cast their vote for two candidates.
