Osburn hosts a new holiday craft fair
OSBURN — The holiday season now is upon us, and Osburn will be the first in Shoshone County to kick off the festivities with a brand new Holiday Craft Fair.
Event Coordinator Sharlene Leker said vendors are looking forward to displaying their crafts, since the much-anticipated Osburn Fall Craft Fair, which is usually held at Silver Hills Elementary, hasn’t taken place since 2019.
Leker said that with no craft fair last year, Silver Valley crafters jumped at the opportunity to get involved once again. “I put an ad up on (Facebook) marketplace, and got much more response than I thought I would,” Leker said of the event — which will host close to 20 vendors. “People are eager to get out there and sell, and I think buyers are eager to buy.”
Due to there being limited space, Leker said that she made sure that there will be no duplicated crafts, which will also guarantee shoppers are provided with diversity while at the fair.
The craft fair will also tie in the holiday tradition of giving back to the community, as all of the vendor fees will be donated to Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit organization that delivers fresh, home cooked meals to homebound senior citizens in the Silver Valley.
Leker, who is a weekly driver for the Silver Valley Meals on Wheels program said “Since the Silver Valley Senior Meals on Wheels are providing the overall space, we were excited to be able to keep the fee at a low cost to the vendor, and in return, the vendor fees went right back to Meals on Wheels.”
Leker, who just published her first book, “The War Within,” will be at the fair along with fellow local author, Brain Lee, selling and signing copies of their books.
The Holiday Craft Fair will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 6-7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Osburn Senior Center, next to Steins IGA/behind P1FCU.
