As we embark on one of the busiest travel weeks of the year, the Inland Northwest will see everything from fog to snow and rain in the coming days. Winter Weather Advisories are in place in both the Cascades and Northern Rockies in anticipation of the round of snow starting Monday evening. There isn’t much moisture or energy associated with the incoming storm, it’s really all about timing.

The snow will start this evening in the Cascades where the advisory runs from 4 p.m. Monday through 4 p.m. Tuesday for 6 to 8 inches of snow. The Cascades play a big role in what happens across the Inland Northwest. The Central Valley likely misses out on a bulk of the moisture. A few hundredths of an inch of rain would be the most. The lack of moisture in Central Washington is a sign of what we will see in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene as the disturbance moves through.

The mountains of Idaho's Central Panhandle will be under the Winter weather Advisory from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Three to six inches of snow are expected to fall in that time on 4th of July and Lookout Passes.
