Senior Grace Nearing scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers for the Wildcats in a win over the Knights in the opening game of the Silver Valley Tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court.

Hailey Cheney scored 11 points for Kellogg.

“I thought we executed our offense really well,” Kellogg coach Jana Nearing said. “We shot the ball really well from the outside. Lakeside really sunk in on the post, but our guards really stepped up and played well.”

Jolissa Holt scored eight points for Lakeside.

Kellogg hit 7 of 16 3s; Lakeside was 2 of 18 from behind the arc.

“They had quite a bit of size on us,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We struggled to rebound against them; we gave them plenty of second chances.”

Jaden House hit three 3-pointers and finished with 18 points as the Miners toppled the Trojan junior varsity in the first round of the Silver Valley Tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court.

Katherine Berg scored 14 points for the Post Falls JV, which won the tourney last year.

Senior Hailey Cheney totaled 13 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore Emily Coe had 10 points and 13 boards as the Kellogg Wildcats beat the host Wallace Miners 42-24 in the championship game of the Silver Valley Tournament on Saturday night at Kirby Krulitz Court. “Our defense was on point,” Kellogg coach Jana Nearing said. “We’ve been working on our press and we were able to force a lot of turnovers, and we were able to keep our turnovers low.”

Jaden House scored 13 points for Wallace, which travels to Kootenai on Tuesday.

Kellogg returns to action Nov. 30 at Lakeland.

WALLACE — Jolissa Holt scored 15 points to lead the Knights past the Trojans junior varsity in the consolation game of the Silver Valley Tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court.

“We were able to shoot the ball and play a lot better tonight,” said Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman, whose team limited Post Falls to four points in the third quarter to take a 35-19 lead. “We did a good job defensively and were able to build a lead. I was pretty pleased we were able to play a full game. The girls are improving and we’ll look to continue to do that.”

Ariana Havier-Gorr scored 13 points for Lakeside, which hosts Mullan on Dec. 2.

Myckenzee Mitley scored 14 points for the Post Falls JV.

PRIEST RIVER — Senior Jaden House had a game-high 27 points along with seven rebounds and two steals to lead the Miners past the Spartans in a nonleague game at Priest River High.

Layla Burmeister had 11 points and seven rebounds for Wallace.

Samantha Pound had 12 points and three steals for Priest River.
