CES under boil order
CATALDO –– As of this Wednesday morning, the Canyon Elementary School water system has been issued a boil-water order by the Panhandle Health District due to two routine water samples testing positive for the e. Coli bacteria.
The Kellogg School District has taken immediate steps to remediate the situation by providing clean drinking water, alternative handwashing means, and addressing how the food service program will safely prepare meals. KSD will also begin work to inspect, improve, repair, and sterilize the system in conjunction with local water system companies.
At this time KSD does not have any reason to believe the problem is from the new well as all samples taken from the well have contained no contaminants. In conjunction with Panhandle Health, they believe the problem is in the reservoir or the delivery system into the school.
“The safety of our students and staff is our first priority,” read a release from the KSD. “Our goal is to keep all of our students and staff safe and we will not compromise in this realm. We are confident that with Principal Jenny Ferreira’s leadership, the staff, students, and parents at Canyon will show their character and attack this bump in the road with their usual resiliency and determination.”
