Kellogg City Council Position 2: Monica Miller

| October 21, 2021 3:14 PM

Monica Miller is seeking election to position two on the Kellogg City Council and is running against Robin Ray for the open position.

Miller, 32, is a Kellogg High School graduate and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho.

Miller lives in Kellogg with her boyfriend, Willy; dog Junebug; and Barry, their cat; and she is the daughter of Ed and Barb Miller.

Miller has been working in the public sector for the past four years at the Shoshone County Planning and Zoning Office.

“In this position I have witnessed the inner workings of local government,” Miller said. “I attend and facilitate public meetings and assist with interpreting codes and ordinances. My other relevant experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Historic Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce where we advocate for the city’s businesses and tourism, and operating my own small business, Prospect Fitness Studio since 2019.”

Miller hopes that, if elected, she will have the opportunity to enliven the identity of Kellogg by understanding the limitations and opportunities associated with the position of councilwoman and establish a deeper connection between the residents and the council.

As a business owner, Miller’s proudest achievement is Prospect Fitness Studio and has cultivated a vast clientele where she has developed several deep relationships.

And her ability to develop these types of relationships is what she believes will help her address what she believes are the key issues.

“I believe that serving as an elected official should be more than just filling a seat,” she said. “Kellogg needs to boost its inherent character and capitalize on its strengths like outdoor recreation, history and mining culture. Other important issues include the housing crisis, staying in sync with the community, and being attentive to citizens’ needs.”
