Mac Pooler: Kellogg Mayor Uncontested
Macklin E. Pooler is 79 years old, born and raised in Kellogg. He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1960 and went to Boise State Jr. College to play football. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army, 321st engineers battalion as a first sergeant in Wallace Idaho.
In 1964 Mac & Francie married, they have a son Shanon and daughter Carri, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mac worked for and was manager for Idaho Water Company and Central Shoshone County Water District for 38 years. During this time there were some very large construction projects.
In May 1997 Milo Creek flooded and caused major damage to the cities of Kellogg and Wardner. He was instrumental in obtaining state and federal funding to finance the Milo Creek Project. The project cost was $17 million dollars and took 4 ½ years to complete. Mac was the Project Manager for the City and had to work with planners, engineers, many contractors both private and public utilities, state, federal and EPA regulations. This took a lot of time and energy and coordination until the completion of the Project.
His most recent project was obtaining funds for all new sewer and roads in Kellogg. This took about five years from the beginning to the end of the actual construction at a cost of $54 million dollars.
Mac’s primary concerns through the years has been the citizens of Kellogg and working hand in hand with the Council to make Kellogg a great place to live.
