KELLOGG — Come one, come all. Dogs big and small.

Hunter Jones, a local graduate of Kellogg High School, opened up Puppy Love Grooming Company on the day of love, Feb. 14. An apt day to open, as the reason Jones got into dog grooming was love.

“I had a beloved dog named Lola, who unfortunately passed last year. I didn’t want anyone else to groom her, so I started learning how to groom her myself. I knew I had to learn for her, and I fell in love with it,” Jones explained.

Jones trained at PetSmart in Portland, Ore. PetSmart uses the Splash Training Program and uses a variety of learning techniques, including salon operations, dog anatomy and common conditions, dog behavior and safe handling, pre-bathing, bathing and drying techniques, salon services and customer experience.

“I worked for a variety of different PetSmarts, I worked in Coeur d’Alene, Spokane, and eventually moved back to the valley and worked for Muttley Makeovers for the past three years.”

In December, Jones had plans to move to Florida, however, plans fell through. However, everything worked out for the best, as Jones was able to obtain an ideal location to open her business. Located between two popular salons and across the street from the local watering hole Dirty Dog Saloon.

“It just worked out. This is how it’s supposed to be.”

Jones offers complete grooming services, including nail trim and grind, ear cleaning, gland expression, bath and blow-dry, mat removal and brush outs.

Jones has experienced success since opening her company almost two months ago and is currently booked out until May.

Located at 315 McKinley Ave. in Kellogg. Pricing for services will vary depending upon dog breed and coat type. You can make an appointment by calling 208-699-7199 or message puppylovinggroomingco on Facebook and Instagram.
