What's app with that?

OSBURN –– Hey readers, do you know that we have an app?

The Shoshone News-Press App is an easy one-stop-shop for all of the Silver Valley’s news.

Anyone who has a current subscription – both print or digital-only – can login to the app and see all of the local news and sports updates as well as the popular North Idaho Now podcast without having to access them through a website or search through social media.

The app provides users with all the same services and options of the website, but presents all of it in a format that is friendly to your mobile device.

App-users also are given the option of receiving push notifications – allowing them to know any and all breaking news and content updates to the app.

While the app is a convenient way to access all of our local news, it is also an excellent way for you, the readers, to interact with us.

“As good as we are at keeping tabs on the current comings and goings of our beautiful county, we know that sometimes we miss things,” SNP County Editor Josh McDonald said. “But we’re hoping that people will start using the app to send us the story leads that we may have missed.”

One of the more unknown and underutilized features within the app is the ‘Submit News/Photos’ option — which allows anyone to send in breaking news or story ideas to the SNP newsroom at the touch of a button.

For non-subscribers the app is still free to use, although there is a monthly limit to the amount of free stories that a person can read – not being a subscriber will not affect the ability to submit stories or photos through the app.

“The app really is the easiest way to get our content,” McDonald said. “I think people may have missed it when we released it, but as everyone is getting more comfortable with smartphones and mobile devices I think it will catch on.”

The Shoshone News-Press application can be found by simply searching our name in whatever application library you use.

North Idaho Now records two episodes per week (Tuesday and Friday) and is available on the app, as well as on all major podcatchers.
