Julie Salo Latina, 64

| April 21, 2022 2:40 PM

Julie Salo Latina, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and nana, passed away peacefully Friday, April 8, 2022. She was born June 9, 1957, to Elmer and Betsy (Hoffman) Salo in Wallace, Idaho, the second of four daughters they would have together.

Julie grew up in Mullan, Idaho, as did her high school sweetheart and soul mate, Steve. The two married June 30, 1979. In 1980, they bought their house in Coeur d'Alene and spent the next 42 years turning it into a home. Julie and Steve welcomed their son, Nick, into the world in 1982. Four years later, Nick got his wish of a baby sister when Caila was born. Julie was always the loudest cheerleader at Caila's sporting events.

Julie loved her family. Many birthdays, holidays and celebrations were held at their house. She was known for going a bit overboard and always having enough food to feed an army. She loved spoiling her nephews and grandchildren.

Julie began her career in banking early in life and spent the last 30-plus years as a branch manager in Post Falls, Idaho. She loved the people, employees and customers alike, and genuinely cared for them. Julie was one of a kind. Always thinking of others before herself, she was the most selfless person you could ever meet.

Taken from us far too soon, Julie will be missed dearly by those who loved her, who knew her, and who were lucky enough to have her touch their lives.

She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer. She is survived by her husband, Steve; her children, Nick (Holly Kimble) and Caila (Jeff Harris); grandchildren Eric, Matthew, Kyleigh, Rachel and Wade; as well as Madison and Tanner; mother Betsy; sisters Leanne (Larry Sutton), Lisa (Lonnie Skantel) and Carol; cousin Nancy (Tony Jewett); niece Michelle; and nephews Sam, Jack and Nathaniel.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Coeur d'Alene Shrine Club Event Center, 1250 W. Lancaster Road, Hayden, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, we know Julie would appreciate donations to the Post Falls or your local food bank.
