POST FALLS — St. Maries senior Seth Swallows parred the 18th hole, the third hole of a three-player playoff, to capture medalist honors at the Genesis Prep Invitational at The Links Golf Club on Wednesday.

Swallows, who finished tied with a 77 against Freeman’s Ryan Russell and Clark Fork’s Cole Reuter, beat Russell, who bogeyed on the 18th. Reuter was eliminated on the second hole.

Hope Asgaard won girls medalist honors with an 89, leading the Lumberjacks to the girls team title.

Kellogg won the boys team title.

Priest River boys, Bonners Ferry girls win at IML tourney

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River’s Luke Butler and Kellogg’s Archie Rauenhort finished tied for medalist with 3-over-par 69s at an Intermountain League tournament at The Ranch Club. Bonners Ferry’s Braylyn Bayer was girls medalist with a 78.

Priest River won the boys team title and Bonners Ferry won the girls team title.

The next IML match is Thursday at The Links in Post Falls.

OSBURN — Austin Clapper singled to score Riply Luna with the winning run as the Wildcats beat the Lumberjacks in a nonleague game at Morehouse Field.

Luna struck out five in four innings as the Wildcats built a 7-0 lead after four innings. St. Maries took the lead in the top of the seventh 11-10.

“It was just a battle after the fifth inning,” Kellogg coach Nathan Whatcott said. “St. Maries never gave up and played with a lot of heart. They put their ace on the mound and we were able to get three hits off them and get out of there with a win. It was a great game.”

Dylan Larson had three hits and three RBIs for St. Maries.

Clapper finished with three RBIs for Kellogg.

OSBURN — Wyatt Kitchin went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored for the Timberlake Tigers in a 13-3 win over the Kellogg Wildcats in the first game of an Intermountain League doubleheader at Morehouse Field on Saturday. In the nightcap, Luke Frohlich singled to score Brayden Hoffman with the winning run as the Wildcats rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 8-7 and get the split.

Caden Robinett struck out 11 in 4 2/3 innings in the first game for Timberlake.

KELLOGG — Tapanga Rojas homered in the first game and drove in eight runs on the day, and the visiting Tigers went yard six times in the Intermountain League sweep of the Wildcats at Kellogg Middle School.

Rojas hit a three-run homer in the second inning of the opener, and finished 4 for 5 with five RBIs and three runs scored for league-leading Timberlake. In the second game, she went 2 for 6 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Ashley Grantham homered in each game for the Tigers. She had a three-run shot in the first game, and a two-run homer in the second game. Grantham finished 5 for 7 with seven RBIs and six runs scored on the day. Lily Carhart hit a three-run homer in the first game for Timberlake, and finished with three hits and seven RBIs on the day.

Logan Walsh hit a three-run homer in the second game for the Tigers, and finished 6 for 6 with four RBIs and nine runs scored.

“I can’t complain about our hitting,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said.

Casey Whaley struck out seven and scattered three hits in five innings in the opener for Timberlake, and Acacia Pecor fanned 12 and gave up four hits in five innings in the nightcap.

Walsh, a part-time catcher last season, has moved back behind the plate from third base after catcher Taylor Bentley suffered a bone bruise on her left ankle after getting hit by a pitch a week ago.

Lupinacci is optimistic Bentley will be back in the lineup in a week or so.

Kadyn Williams had two hits on the day for Kellogg, which is in second place in the four team IML.

Sandpoint takes titles at Priest River invite

PRIEST RIVER — Sandpoint’s Rusty Lee notched wins in the 100, 400 and high jump to lead the Bulldogs to the boys team title at the Priest River Invitational at Priest River High.

Sandpoint won the boys title with 188.5 points, followed by Bonners Ferry with 120.5.

Sandpoint also won the girls title with 167.5 points.
