Ronald 'Ron' James Green, 66
Ronald “Ron” James Green, 66, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Aug. 12, 2022, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg. He was born on Aug. 13, 1955, in Kellogg. Ron was the son of James Edward and Nancy Florence (Perkins) Green.
Ron has lived in the Silver Valley all of his life. He attended and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1973. Ron furthered his studies in safety and remediation.
Ron was united in marriage to Rhonda Hautala on Nov. 28, 1980, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Mullan.
Ron served as Safety Manager (known affectionately as Safety Ron) for several remediation projects including the Libby Superfund Site, a project he was most proud of and received the Presidential Award for this project.
Ron was a member of the Kellogg Elks No. 1841 and was honored as “Elk Of The Year” for 2021-2022; he also was a member of the Laborers Union Local No. 238 of Spokane, Wash., and the Tuesday Night Social Club.
Ron loved and enjoyed hot rods, he was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan and enjoyed hanging out with his Bros Randy and Ron Hautala and his son, Chris, in the “Hawk Nest;” he also enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, boating, camping, fishing and listening to '70s and '80s rock music. Ron had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody; he was so loved and will be greatly missed.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Rhonda Green of the family home of Kellogg; one son, Chris Green of Post Falls, Idaho; one granddaughter, Olivia Green of Rathdrum, Idaho; his mom, Nancy Green of Silverton; four brothers, Dan Green of Pinehurst, Mark Green also of Pinehurst, Randy Hautala (Shelley) of Post Falls, Idaho, Ron Hautala (Sheri) of Vero Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law Rene Nichols (Chris) of Athol, Idaho; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father, James Green; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Phyllis Hautala.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Mullan. A reception/luncheon and a celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Kellogg Elks following services; this will be a potluck and everyone is welcome. It is encouraged for everyone to wear your favorite football attire.
