Tapping in on the fun
KELLOGG — Silver Mountain celebrated 25 years of one of its biggest events this past weekend at Brewsfest 2022. The Northwest has become a haven for craft beer/cider lovers and Silver Mountain has used that to its advantage.
“This year we had a limited number of tickets that we sold,” Silver Mountain Marketing Manager Gus Colburn told the News-Press. “All 1,200 tickets were sold out the morning of the event.”
One ticket to the event included a round-trip gondola ride, event access, a 2022 five-ounce mug and six tasting tickets.
The event took place in an incredible setting, accessed by the scenic three-mile gondola ride to the top of Silver Mountain — overlooking the vast Valley below.
“It really was perfect weather. We have had years with a lot of smoke from the fires, but this year was perfect. It was great to see so many people able to enjoy the great weather and music,” Colburn said.
As the gates opened around noon, the thirsty beer and cider fans filed in, trying their first drink and enjoying the musical stylings of the first live band, Whack-A-Mole.
“In total, 24 vendors were pouring two drinks,” Colburn said. “So we had a total of 48 drinks for everyone to try out.”
Among the 24 beverage vendors were Silver Valley favorites like Radio Brewing Company and Wallace Brewing Company. Regional breweries included the likes of Mad Bomber Brewing Company, Laughing Dog, Edge Brewing Company, Elysian Brewing, One Tree Cider, and many more. Event goers had the opportunity to pick up stickers, sunglasses, magnets, and other free swag from the different booths.
Those looking to satiate their appetite could do so at the delectable food trucks — Happy Burger, which makes specialty smash burgers, and Taco Works Prairie, serving tacos, burritos, and more.
Merchandise for the event was designed and provided by the Wallace-based Traveling T’s, with all the merch sporting a ’90s theme that hit this millennial's heart in a special place.
As the crowd grew, more people began setting up their blankets and lawn chairs to listen to the headline musical act, Justyn Priest and the Joyful Noise, a 7-piece band from Spokane.
Colburn said that one of the new additions to the event was having volunteers, made up of parents involved in the Kellogg School District wrestling and track programs, pour drinks at all of the vendor booths.
“We will be donating to those programs that provided those volunteers for us. Part of the proceeds of the event, as well as the tips, will be donated.”
