Rehnborg in as Zone 2 trustee

WALLACE — Mary Rehnborg was recently appointed to the Wallace School District Board of Trustees.

Rehnborg was appointed and sworn in at the Nov. 14 meeting of the Wallace School Board, where she replaced Dan Hussey as the Zone 2 trustee.

Hussey resigned in September, and the responsibility fell to the remaining board members to fill his seat for the remainder of his term.

The process required the board to seek out applicants from Zone 2, and then subsequently from outside the zone if no suitable applicants could be found.

Rehnborg, who works in the community already as an environmental scientist and program manager with the Panhandle Health District, wanted to get even more involved in her community.

“When I learned of the recent vacancy on the school board, I saw this as the perfect opportunity for me to become more involved in my community and a great way to help foster the best possible educational environment for Wallace School District 393,” she said. “My own two children, Benjamin and Anna, attend Wallace High School and have been students in the district since kindergarten.”

As an educated person herself, Rehnborg places a high priority on ensuring that the students in the WSD get the most out of their education to better prepare them for their future.

“My goal for joining the board is to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge and experiences necessary for them to develop into successful and productive members of our community,” Rehnborg said. “Providing excellent education here in our own region is a necessary foundation for the overall success of our community.”

Rehnborg settled in Osburn following her husband’s completion of service with the U.S. Army and thought that his hometown would be the perfect place to start and grow their family.

Next month will mark 11 years for Rehnborg at PHD, where she began her career working on the Institutional Controls Program.

She is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, biking, camping, snow shoeing and snowboarding.

“I always encourage the sharing of different perspectives and ideas and encourage working together as a unified team,” she said. “I am excited to be part of a board devoted to the betterment of our local youth.”

WSD Superintendent Todd Howard was thrilled at the appointment of Rehnborg and thanked her for undertaking what is really an underappreciated responsibility.

“On behalf of the Wallace School District and the board of trustees, I would like to welcome Mrs. Mary Rehnborg as our new Zone 2 trustee,” Howard said. “I would personally like to thank Mrs. Rehnborg for her interest and support of the Wallace School District.”
