Thomas E. Higbee, 78

On Nov. 23, 2022, we lost our beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend Thomas Edward Higbee. Tom was born on July 3, 1944, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Jay and Helen Higbee. He grew up on Latour Creek in Cataldo with brothers, Jay (Betty) and Glenn (Marbie).

He went on to play football at Kellogg High where he later graduated in 1962. From there, he went to North Idaho College for a year where he met the love of his life Sally Jean Chesnut. Tom and Sally were married on April 25, 1964. Tom later went to work for his Dad at Jay A. Higbee and Son Logging as a sawyer. He worked for several different logging companies for more than 44 years until he retired.

Tom and Sally raised three sons up Latour Creek, a place Tom loved and wanted his children to enjoy — sons Daniel Higbee, Mark (Annette) of Spirit Lake and Rusty (Angie) of Rathdrum. Tom also had five grandchildren: Jessica, Randy Jr., Monica, Makayla and Marissa, of whom he shared some of his favorite hobbies of hunting, fishing and drawing with. He also has four great-grandchildren: Gabby, Liz, Gracelynn and Emily.

Tom’s love for his family, friends, the woods, hunting, fishing and camping was seen and enjoyed by all who met him. One thing Tom loved to do most was ride his four-wheeler up and down Latour Creek visiting friends, family and working loggers. He put over a hundred thousand miles on several different four-wheelers doing so. His favorite hobby though was riding his four-wheeler to his secret huckleberry picking spots with his dear friend and cousin Denny.

Tom and Sally shared a love together and were married for 58 years. He will be loved and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tom was preceded in death by son Daniel; brother Glenn; and parents Jay and Helen. He is survived by wife Sally; sons Mark and Rusty; his brother, Jay; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time. There will be a celebration of life this summer.
