Leon J. Osterberg, 73

| December 9, 2022 9:44 AM

Leon J. Osterberg, 73, was born in Spirit Lake, Idaho, on April 19, 1949, to Gordan and Betty (Loveless) Osterberg. Leon is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Louis Osterberg and Nancy Pearson. Leon passed away in Yuma, Ariz., on Oct. 29, 2022.

Leon married Dorothy Kitchen in Kellogg, Idaho, Jan. 9, 1968. He is survived by Dorothy of Yuma, Lyndia and John Evans, and Lori Osterberg and Tim Miller, of Pinehurst; five grandchildren, Vanessa and Vance Evans, Luke and Sydnee Miller, Bradley and Chelsea Osterberg; and two great-grandchildren, Cohen and Presleigh Osterberg.

Leon loved life, the outdoors, hunting and camping. But, most of all, he loved his family and friends. He enjoyed riding ATV’s in the woods, all things NASCAR, growing roses, country music, the Oregon Coast and his most recent home in Yuma.

Leon had many hobbies throughout his life. He worked hard and took pride in his family, both his immediate family and extended loved ones. He and Dorothy always had open doors to family and friends. Like many, Leon enjoyed fad hobbies, such as citizen band radios in the '70s and '80s. He was an avid “breaker” and loved talking to folks “long distance” in “Skipland.” “AquaMan” as he was known on the radio, kept up with many of his CB friends through the years.

More recently, Leon spent hours cheering on his favorite NASCAR car and driver. He proudly grew several varieties of roses and was always up for a board or card game.

Memorial service arrangements will be announced in the spring of 2023 to allow for ease of travel.

Leon loved working with and around children. Memorials may be made in Leon’s name to the Snack Pack Program. This program provides meals to children who sometimes do not get enough to eat outside from school. Donations can be mailed to: Silver Valley Snack Pak, Inc. (a 501C3 charitable organization), P.O.
