Denise E. Hohnsbehn, 57

Denise Elaine Hohnsbehn, 57, of Kellogg, Idaho, beloved mother and friend, passed away Dec. 12, 2022, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Denise was born on Sept. 28, 1965, in Tacoma, Wash., a daughter of Rex and Jan Hohnsbehn.

Denise lived most of her adult life in Shoshone County. She was well-loved by her family and many friends. The little things in life meant the most to Denise. She always counted her blessings and not her problems. She was well-known for her infectious sense of humor. Denise was a warrior with a heart of gold. Every day she chose to be thoughtful and happy while dealing with ongoing health complications. She always had a heart for people and small animals alike and was partially fond of her kitties.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Jan (Wardner) Peterson who resided in Kellogg.

Survivors include her only son, Christopher (Virginia) Hohnsbehn of Silverton, Idaho; step-grandchildren, Katie Sjogren and Matthew Sjogren of Silverton; life companion Dan Matthews of Kellogg; father Rex Hohnsbehn Sr. of Hallsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Rex Hohnsbehn Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn., and Jon Hohnsbehn of Kellogg; and a sister, Stacey Tibbets of Clarkston, Wash.; as well as numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A gathering of Denise’s family and friends will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, at the home of her son, Chris, in Silverton.
