WALLACE — The Silver Splendor Christmas Show took place Sunday evening and was hosted by the United Church of Christ Congregational (UCC) to get in the holiday spirit. The evening was also a fundraiser for the Wallace Food Bank, as admission was free — but it was asked that a donation be made to the food bank.

Hosted by Alex Cook, the night featured live musical performances and recorded acts wishing Wallace a Merry Christmas worldwide.

Wishes of goodwill and videos were sent in from as close as Coeur d’Alene, like pop-country artist Carli Osika to a video message from musician Wyclif Murungi in Uganda. Other musical artists sending in Christmas wishes included Lynsay Ryan, One Ugly Cowboy, Eli Deyoe, Kenji Harada, Jonathan Micheal Fleming, David Ashley Trent and Samuel Day.

Although getting messages from all over the world is exciting, it was the live entertainment that made the evening special.

The talents of Wallace residents began with the UCC Bells Choir in an angelic rendition of “The First Noel,” followed by the soulful tones of Christina Masterson singing “Silent Night.”

Pianist Carl Rowe tickled the ivories as he played “It’s Beginning to Look A lot Like Christmas,” followed by “My Favorite Things” as a duet with Stardust Motel owner Kimberly Keyton. Other live performances included Jamie Baker on the saxophone, John Contreras, Gordon Mills, and more.

The group that everyone was most excited about was the debut performance of the Wallace Rockettez, including many local businesswomen among Wallace, taking the stage and singing “Here Comes Santa Claus” accompanied by Contreras on the piano.

The Rockettez included 23 powerhouse women from Wallace, although not all could attend due to illness.

The Wallace Rockettez included: Kimberly Keyton of the Stardust Motel, Brenda Johnson of Johnson’s Gems, Luanne Wuerfel of Blackboard Cafe, Traci Acireno of Muchachos Tacos, Corki Mattila of Corki’s Ink, Jonnie Renteria of Tranquility Day Spa and Massage, Sally Joanne Utley of EurekaSally, Suzi Quincy of Ye Olde Skate Shop, Karli Gough of slab.meat, Kristen Welch of The Fainting Goat, Heather Branstetter of Heather Lee Media, Alex Mayberry of Cogs Gastropub, Emily Nelson, Rachel Stanley and Vicki Field with the Brooks Hotel, Tamra Heir Clair of 6th and Cedar, Lacie McGinnes of Mossy Moose, Katie Watterson at the Metals Bar, Shelly Thomas and Tori Thomas of Fonk’s Fabulous Finds, Sera White of Gravis Tech, Leslie Mcphail of Funky Monkey and Mykala Inez.

All food banks in Shoshone County could use support as the holidays are often the busiest time of the year. Harvest Foods in Wallace and Watson’s Market in Osburn partners with the Wallace Food Bank by packaging groceries that can be purchased, picked up, and distributed at the food banks in Wallace and Osburn. The Wallace Food Bank is located at The Prayer Station at 214 Fourth St., Wallace, and serves the Wallace, Mullan and Osburn communities.
