Dorla J. Hanson Johnson, 89

| February 21, 2022 9:35 AM

Our precious mother Dorla got her angel wings on the evening of Feb. 17, 2022, at the Hospice House of Spokane. She was born on Aug. 27, 1932, to James and Irene Johnson in Craig, Neb., the sixth of seven children. She and her family moved to North Idaho at the age of 6. She attended Coeur d’Alene High and then Mark Su’s Beauty School in Coeur d’Alene to obtain her beautician’s license, a career that she enjoyed and cut family members’ hair well into her 80s.

She was married to Barmarth (Dub) Hanson May 4, 1952, to Jan. 22, 1978. They had six children: Barmarth (Doug), deceased 2020; Bernie (Diane) of Pinehurst; Carla, deceased 1969; Andy (Julie) of Pinehurst; Steve (Brenda) of Coeur d’Alene and Marla Giese (Dave) of Spokane Valley, Wash.

Dorla found love again with Stanley Johnson. They were married June 14, 1979, to July 4, 2016, and she gained three bonus daughters: Deonne (Art) of Spangle, Wash., Denise (Jerry) of Coeur d’Alene and Chris (Harry) of Kingston. She had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she loved each and every one of them beyond measure.

Dorla was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Mildred, Milford, Emaline, Carolyne, Bernice and Belva; husbands Barmarth (Dub) and Stanley; children: Carla and Barmarth (Doug); grandchildren Rusty and Layla; and great-grandchildren Ethan and Ella.

Dorla was very well-known for her love of cooking, baking and entertaining, especially on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Everyone loved her homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, noodles year-round, plus so many more delicious dishes and treats. Like our Momma would always say “there’s pie.”

Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, has been entrusted with graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at Forest Cemetery, 1001 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with a family gathering to follow at Hayden Eagles, 1520 W. Wyoming Ave., Hayden, ID 83835.
