Beverly Hyde, 86

Beverly Allayne Hyde, 86 years old, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Feb. 16, 2022. Beverly was born on Jan. 31, 1936, to Ruth Gates and James Marble in Roaring Springs, Pa.

As a young girl, she was mainly raised by her Grandmother Gates. After eighth grade, she moved to Roundup, Mont., with her mother and younger brother, Jon. She graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1953. While working as a bank teller, Beverly was introduced to Gene Hyde and the two were married June 13, 1954, in Columbia Falls, Mont.

Beverly and Gene made their home in the Wallace/Osburn area and raised their four children: Sonya, Sandra, Bret and Shelly. Beverly was an exceptional mother and homemaker providing treasured childhood memories. While living in the Silver Valley, she was Secretary at Wallace High School and Secretary/Clerk of the Board to the Superintendent. In 1985, Beverly and Gene moved to Post Falls where she was Secretary to the Superintendent of Post Falls School District and later secretary to the counselors at Post Falls High School. In 2018, Beverly moved to Garden Plaza in Post Falls where she enjoyed socializing and playing games.

Beverly was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 50 years. She was a member of Welcomers, an Election Official, and volunteered at the Coeur d’Alene Museum and Coeur d’Alene Library.

Beverly loved to bake, cook, sew, knit, craft, garden, read and golf. She was never one to pass up ice cream! Her grandchildren fondly remember her candy cupboard and her yummy huckleberry muffins. She was known as a gracious hostess with a talent for decorating her home for every holiday. Beverly never wanted the spotlight but dearly loved being in the presence of those she knew and loved most. She looked forward to the annual Hyde girl trips with her daughters. She was affectionately known as Bev, Mom, Mrs. Hyde, Mahyde, Gramma, Graham Cracker, G-ma, G-Gma and Aunt Beverly.

Beverly is survived by three daughters, Sonya (Lou) Knudson of Boise, Idaho, Sandra (Mike) Owsley of Sparks, Nev., and Shelly (Dale) Engel of Liberty Lake, Wash.; daughter-in-law Susan Hyde of Post Falls; brother Jon (Carol) Poe of Billings Mont.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren with one more arriving in March; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Hyde; son Bret Hyde and her mother, Ruth.

A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Red Lion/Templin’s on the River, 414 E. First Ave., Post Falls. A memorial donation can be made in Beverly’s name to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Garden Plaza Staff for their kindness and support.
