Look ahead: Beer and Browse

KELLOGG — A new summer event is on the horizon and the Kiwanis Club of the Silver Valley is excited to announce its upcoming vendor fair — Beer and Browse.

Last year, the Kiwanis Club was brainstorming ideas for new fundraising opportunities that were more outside the box and the tandem of newly appointed vice president Bridget Hojem and board member Braden Thomas kept coming back to the idea of holding a weekend-long vendor fair.

“We discussed many different fundraiser ideas, but the one that stuck was a massive vendor fair,” Thomas said. “There are a few events similar to this in the Silver Valley, but nothing during this time of year.”

And both Thomas and Hojem know that there are two things in particular the people of the Silver Valley enjoy: outdoor marketplaces and the ability to shop with a drink in hand.

Beer and Browse will allow for both.

Taking cues from the exceptionally popular Silver Valley Community Market that has taken over the Kellogg City Park for the last few years, the event will be a singular weekend in June, and the hopes are that it is big enough that people see it from the freeway.

The plan is to provide a myriad of shopping options, including food, as well as a wide variety of drinking options (including bottomless mimosas if you get there early enough).

“There will be plenty of food vendors to choose from, and over 100 vendors offering everything from vintage items and antiques to handmade crafts,” Thomas said. “The event will be open for two days, so there will be plenty of opportunity to come down and enjoy all the festivities.”

Thomas would also like to let people know that there are still vendor slots available, all people need to do is go to Kiwanis Club of the Silver Valley Facebook page and find the registration information.

Beer and Browse is scheduled for June 11 and 12 in Smelterville.

The Kiwanis Club of the Silver Valley is a member of Kiwanis International, a larger organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of children in their respective communities through improving literacy, fighting hunger and offering guidance.

The Kiwanis Club of the Silver Valley has been around for several years and has worked on several projects, including the Winter Special Olympics, Dare to Imagine, Head Start, Boys and Girls State, and the renovation of the baseball field inside the Kellogg City Park.

The Silver Valley Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday at noon at Noah’s in the Silver Mountain Village.
