WALLACE — A night of intimate entertainment will be taking Wallace back in time this weekend as the dancing and drama of The Cigarette Girls Burlesque show debuts at 419 Cedar St. in Wallace this Saturday.

The showcase will be sure to both amuse and arouse all in attendance with what long time Cigarette Girl, Meg Hansen (also known by her stage name, Stella Pearl), said will be a mixture of classic burlesque intertwined with modern music, story lines and comedy.

“We definitely encourage audience participation. So I would say those who are coming ready to join in can expect to lose your voice. There will be a lot of hooting and hollering. Definitely come sit up front if you want the dancers to interact with you.”

Hansen said those unfamiliar with burlesque can expect a lively experience that is both fun and playful, but laid back enough for all comfort levels to enjoy.

“Lots of people come in a little nervous, not knowing whether or not it will be their thing and really not knowing how to interact,” Hansen said. “Then they get there and realize what a relaxed and fun atmosphere it is and how much we encourage everyone to have a good time and express themselves, and everyone really enjoys it. The environment really encourages people to let loose and have fun.”

The Cigarette Girls have been touring the area out from Missoula for more than a decade, with this being their second time bringing their glitz and glamour to the Silver Valley. The event is hosted by SkiWallace, who is known for hosting the largely popular winter SkiJor event that is set to take to the streets of Wallace in February.

SkiWallace board member Greg Bosen said he looks forward to having the girls back saying, “Last time we filled the whole place up twice. The troupe was super fun and easy going. They got to eat at and tour the Jameson hotel between shows. They immediately wanted to come back to Wallace. Meg and I have stayed in contact since then. The SkiWallace board has been wanting to get them back in Wallace for some time.”

The doors and bar will open for the event at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 and the show will start at 7 p.m.
