Medimont woman killed in head-on collision with semi-truck
A Medimont woman was killed last Friday night after vechile versus semi-truck collision on Fourth of July Pass.
Idaho State Police report that at approximately 10:07 p.m., a Volvo semi-truck pulling a trailer, driven by a 45-year-old male from Homestead, Florida, was traveling eastbound on Interstate-90 at milepost 26.5 when a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 36-year-old female from Medimont was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The Silverado then collided with the semi head on.
The driver of the semi, along with his 45-year-old female passenger from Homestead, Florida, were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident. Both were later transported to the Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene via ground ambulance. The driver of the Silverado was wearing her seatbelt as well, but was pronounced deceased on scene.
The roadway was blocked for approximately three and a half hours to allow emergency responders to help those involved.
Next of kin has been notified and the incident is still under investigation.
