KELLOGG –– Who’s ready for a little Music in the Park?

This week the Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce will kick off their rechristened weekly summer market in grand fashion.

And it looks like that the weather, as uncommon as it has been so far this summer, is going to cooperate in a most comfortable manner.

Formerly known as the Silver Valley Community Market, after three very successful years prior to the pandemic, the event suffered during its return in 2021 which prompted the event’s organizers, including Diannah Fields-Brown to re-examine their approach.

Their solution was to find the things that made the market successful and build around them.

“We decided that since so many people came out specifically to listen to the music and have a drink that we’d make that the focal point,” Fields-Brown told the News-Press previously. “We will have vendors as well, but the music will be the focus.”

Their opening act is popular folk group the Sara Brown Band – known throughout the Pacific Northwest for their eclectic range of music and flashy costumes.

And they’re just first in what has become a solid lineup of musical acts that will perform during the event’s 10-week run.

"We are so excited to kick off summer with Music in the Park,” Fields-Brown said. “The weather is going to be great, and we have an amazing lineup scheduled. Kellogg City Park is the place to be Thursday evenings."

Currently the chamber has 12 vendors signed up for the first event – including Wallace’s own Slab Meat – but there is always room for more.

“Those interested in selling handcrafted, home-grown goods can reach out to Becca@silvervalleychamber.com for an application,” Fields-Brown said. “Vendor fees are $20 for businesses who are not chamber members. We are waiving vendor fees for chamber members this year.”

Music in the Park begins this Thursday evening, June 23, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and will run each Thursday through August 25.
