Elvi Stewart, 80

| June 30, 2022 12:30 PM

Elvi Stewart of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022 at the Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg; she was 80 years old.

Elvi was born on December 1st, 1941 in Finland. She came to the United States with her parents and four siblings in 1957 and settled in the upper peninsula of Michigan. After tragically losing her first husband in death, Elvi moved to Pinehurst along with her four young children, in order to be closer to their grandmother. In November of 1967, she married Jim Stewart and they stayed in Pinehurst, where they raised the four children together.

Elvi was a gentle woman who loved gardening, doing puzzles, and making a comfortable home for her family. She was a talented artist, though few people knew that. Elvi also enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she very much enjoyed teaching others about her loving Creator and the beautiful future that He promises for all of mankind- and Elvi taught not just by word, but also by example.

Elvi is survived by her husband Jim Stewart of Pinehurst; son Bruce Stewart of Cataldo (wife Lorri, daughters Mikelle, Cami, and Mari); son Robert Stewart of Ocean Shores, Washington (son Spencer); daughter Sherry Bailey of Sloatsburg, New York (husband Rich and children Tyler, Grace, and Nick); and son Greg Stewart of Dalton Gardens (wife Jenny and daughters Courtney, Allison, and Mallory) along with 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; she is also survived by her sister Irene Korkeakoski of Pinehurst and brother Timo Korkeakoski of Woodburn, Oregon. Elvi was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Although there will be no memorial service, Elvi will always be remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife, mother and friend. She was humble, gentle and kind and faced difficult challenges with strength and grace. Elvi never said a mean thing about anyone and always had a friendly smile for everyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
