Supporting proactive city measures

| March 7, 2022 2:01 PM

I grew up in Wallace and left after high school. I recently moved back after 33 years for its beautiful natural surroundings, tight-knit community and quirky, fun, small-town atmosphere. It has obviously changed a lot since I left and even more so in the last couple years as the population of rural areas and Idaho continue to explode.

Change is happening everywhere, but it’s not always for the best. I want to express how proud I am of our city leaders for working so hard to hang on to our small-town values. Many people are quick to criticize the city for trying to be proactive in updating our outdated land use plans and zoning code, but I am so thankful they are. Members of our planning and zoning commission and city council have been working tirelessly to make sure the beauty and atmosphere of our special little city is not ruined as we look into the future. They work hand-in-hand with our city attorneys to make sure everything is done right.

As information about rezoning and other processes designed to give our city a framework to grow responsibly occur, please stay informed, get your information from credible sources and participate in the public process. And please support our city leaders as they work to fix outdated laws to protect us and our wonderful quality of life here.
