James Ray West (Jim), 70

Jim West, 70, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away March 13, 2022 at Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born on May 14, 1951 in Wallace, Idaho. Jim was the son of Robert and Louise (Todd) West.

Jim spent his childhood in Shelby, Montana before moving back to the Silver Valley with his family. Jim attended and graduated from the Wallace High School Class of 1969. Jim has called Wallace home ever since.

In March of 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Lorraine Huffman in Wallace. Together they raised two sons Todd and Aeric

Jim served his community in Law Enforcement. He worked for the Sheriff’s Office. He started as Dispatch and retired as Captain. Along with Border Patrol certifications, he ended his time in Law Enforcement with Idaho State Probation and Parole. While with Probation and Parole he was also an NRA safety instructor for the state of Idaho before his retirement after 31 years.

Jim enjoyed spending his free time fishing, camping and target practice. He coached YBL boys Basketball in the mid 80's. Jim was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved sharing his passion of woodworking and cars with them. Jim also loved to tell stories and share a good laugh.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years Lorraine; two sons Todd (Corey) West and Aeric (Tina) West; six grandchildren Nik, Kyle, Alex, Cody, Ryley and Sam; four great-grandchildren Liam, Grant, Finn and a baby girl on the way Amelia. James is also survived by his uncle Pat (Ann) Todd and his two sisters Faye (John) Delbrig, Nora (Steven) Sharrah and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held for James on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Silverton, Idaho.
