Elks Parade coming to Kellogg

KELLOGG — After a two year absence, the Elks Roundup Parade is making its way back to Kellogg.

Taking the reins from her mom Lori, Sarah Sawyer has stepped up to organize and coordinate the busy day and hopefully return a little bit of the life to it that she remembered from her childhood.

“I just remember this day being a full, family fun day and that’s what I’m hoping we can bring back,” Sawyer said.

2022 will mark the 71st edition of the Kellogg Elks Roundup, an event that comes with the primary goal of attracting new members into the fraternal organization.

This year, the goal still is to recruit new membership, but also host an event that can be fun for the entire community.

“We have a whole lineup of things to do this year,” Sawyer said. “We’re going to kick things off with a parade and then we’ll have lots of stuff to do in the park. Including vendors of all kinds, food trucks, face painting, all of this will be followed by a softball game for the adults in the community who will be coached by the Kellogg High School softball team members.”

Historically, the Elks Roundup also included the Elks Queen Pageant, however, with most things finally starting to get back to pre-pandemic levels, it was decided to bring the pageant back (hopefully) next year.

Getting involved in the parade is free for anyone who would like to participate, all they would need to do is contact Sawyer and then make sure that they are up by the staging area near the Kellogg Skate Park at 10:30.

The parade will kick off at 11 a.m. and make its way down Main Street, onto McKinley Avenue and then finish at the bottom of Hill Street at the Kellogg City Park.

Kellogg’s Elks Roundup Celebration is Saturday, May 14. For more information, please reach out to Sarah Sawyer on Facebook.
