Volunteers needed for upcoming reunion
KELLOGG –– Are you a graduate of Kellogg High School? Maybe you’re just a Silver Valley resident who loves volunteering… No matter who you are, Lori Sawyer wants your help to plan the 2023 Kellogg High School All Class Reunion.
Planning events throughout an entire community for folks who could be anywhere from teenagers alway to the nonagenarians (and maybe even beyond) can be a challenge and event coordinator and organizer Lori Sawyer needs help.
Sawyer has been doing this for some time now and has experience from past reunions, but so far the turnout to help her pull off the upcoming event has been lacking and now it seems as though the clock is ticking to ensure that everything that can go right, does go right.
“It would be great to have 20 people to rely on,” Sawyer said. “I’ll take as many as I can get. It just makes it easier for each job. I really need people who are willing to be the head of a committee. I have all of the information from past events which makes everyone’s job way easier.”
As it stands, the reunion has planned for multiple live bands, catered dinner on Teeters Field, a parade, performances by the alumni band and choir, a special purple and gold quilt raffle, as well as special meeting places for each group of graduating classes.
Previous reunions have drawn thousands of people to the area as graduates from across the decades descend upon their home town with families in tow – each person hoping for a memorable time.
Sawyer is also looking for a little creativity from her fellow KHS grads.
“We are looking for a logo design from a Kellogg High School alum to be used for the reunion,” Sawyer said. “The logo will be used for the event’s t-shirts, mailiers, and bags and should be simple enough for printing and must have ‘Kellogg All Class Reunion 2023’ on it as well. The winner will receive two free registrations. Those need to be turned in asap. We will also accept submissions from current seniors and juniors at KHS, since they will be alumni next year.”
The time commitment to be a part of the planning committee isn’t much right now, but as the date draws closer the demand grows.
“It will be a blast, but takes a lot of work,” Sawyer said. “I really need people to help out where they can.”
Sawyer’s committee meets for one hour every third Monday of the month at the Kellogg Community Center (former Kellogg Middle School) at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on May 16.
Design submissions can be dropped off to Sawyer at Shoshone Glass in Kellogg or mailed to her at 329A French Gulch, Kingston, ID., 83839.
The 2023 Kellogg High School All-Class Reunion is scheduled for July 21-23, 2023
